​​COVID-19

The COVID-19 situation represents an unprecedented global health crisis that requires special measures. It is becoming increasingly clear that the ongoing pandemic will continue to impact society at large and the possibility for scientists to meet at international meetings such as the FENS Forum in the coming months.

FENS leadership is actively investigating solutions to proceed in the most responsible way, including moving the Forum to a later date. We would like to reassure our already 5,000+ registered delegates, exhibitors and partners that we are mindful of our duties as the organiser of a large international scientific meeting and that we will keep everyone updated about decisions taken by FENS for the Forum 2020.

We appreciate that this uncertain situation impacts on our community and we thank you for your loyalty and patience while we finalise our response accordingly.

Language

The official language of the Forum is English.

Time Zone

The time zone in Glasgow is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Currency

The currency in Scotland is Pound sterling.

Climate

July is one of the warmest months in Scotland, with temperatures averaging at around 19°C (66°F). Summer temperatures are best for exploring the cities and Highlands of Scotland.

Visa Requirements

Visa regulations depend on your nationality and country of origin. We suggest you contact your local consulate for official instructions on the specific visa regulations and application procedures that may apply to you. It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required.

Official Letter of Invitation

Official letters of invitation designed to help overcome administrative difficulties in certain countries will be sent on request. It must be understood that such letters do not represent a commitment on the part of the Organising Committee or Forum to provide any financial assistance. Liability and Insurance

The Forum Secretariat and Organisers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of or damage to private property of participants. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

Accessibility

The Forum venue is easily accessible for visitors with mobility difficulties and accessibility needs. The SEC works closely with ‘Attitude is Everything’ who improve disabled people’s access to live events by working in partnership with audiences, artists and the event industry to implement a Charter of Best Practice in the UK. The SEC currently holds a Gold Award and are committed to continually improving their venue in order to maintain the Gold Level. Find out more here. FENS 2020 Policy on Photography, Filming and R​ecording

No photographs, video recording or audio recordings may be permitted in the scientific sessions at this Forum unless otherwise authorised in advance by the Scientific Programme Committee. Please contact forum2020@fens.org

​Safety and Security​

Please do not leave bags or suitcases unattended at any time, whether inside or outside the session halls. Hotels strongly recommend that you use their safety deposit boxes for your valuables.

Families at the Forum

Infants and small children of registered delegates (or similar) may access the Forum premises under the sole responsibility and constant supervision of a registered parent and/or designated caretaker (for further information, please read the Code of Conduct). A family room will be available for any attendee needing to bring their infants or small children with them. Please note this room will not be staffed and children may not be left unattended at any time.
